Diane Hilscher has been honing her skills in ecological landscape design and construction project management for over 35 years. She earned degrees in Landscape Architecture and Natural Resources from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1983, graduating with Honors.
In 1991, after working for the National Park Service and National Forest Service while in college and spending seven years working at landscape architecture firms, Diane founded her company Hilscher Design and Ecology. At Hilscher Design and Ecology, she could focus on integrating natural systems into her uniquely beautiful and functional landscape designs.
Diane’s interests include public education on native plants and ecological landscaping. She served as President of the active St. Croix Oak Savanna chapter of Wild Ones: Native Plants, Natural Landscapes for nine years, from 2006 to 2014. She has presented at many different venues including state conferences and professional education venues.
Her love of nature developed while hiking and canoeing with her family growing up in rural Wisconsin. She lives with her husband, Tony Hilscher, in Hugo, Minnesota. She especially enjoys spending time in Stillwater, Minnesota, where they previously lived and restored three acres of beautiful oak savanna (see photo gallery).
